This Sunday, November 4, from 2-4 p.m, at 501 Metcalf Street, the New Bern Preservation Foundation is kicking off a series of BEFORE & AFTER renovation/rehabilitation tours of historic buildings.
The first tour is of the George H. Roberts House, built around 1875, now owned by Gregory Rusch, an interior designer and real estate agent, who recently moved from Atlanta to this home in historic downtown New Bern.
Weather will be clear and in the high 60’s. We’ll greet you with a smile and have some cider and cookies for you when you’re inside. The tour of the home will take approximately 15 minutes and you can linger outside to chat afterwards.
Parking is easy, but there is some road construction on one block of Metcalf from New Street to Broad, so avoid trying to enter or exit Metcalf in that block. You can park on the 500 & 600 Blocks of Metcalf if you enter from Queen St. and on the side streets. The free public lot at New St. and Hancock St. is open and just a block from the house.

$5 donation to the New Bern Preservation Foundation requested. Come join us for a fun moment with some history in the remaking. The next tour after this one will be on Sunday, December 2 from 2-4 p.m. at 616-618 East Front Street. The tour will feature the 1892 Italianate double home, known as the Blades House (although it was built for a lumber baron, J.B. Clark) and now owned by John and Cheryl Young. Mark your calendars for this December 2nd event, too!
