Some of the More Than 75 Historic Properties We Protect
Preserving New Bern’s Buildings, Places and Stories
Historic preservation is not limited to grand houses or prominent landmarks. Modest homes, commercial buildings, community gathering places, transportation structures, cemeteries and other sites can also have architectural, historical or cultural significance.
The New Bern Preservation Foundation protects more than 75 properties through preservation easements and covenants. The properties shown below represent the variety of New Bern places protected through our work, from modest residences to some of the city’s better-known historic buildings.
The Foundation has also led or supported preservation projects involving King Solomon Lodge #1, the Caswell Branch Bridge and Brick Road, the New Bern Battlefield and Bryan-Fordham Cemetery.
